LAURA POWERS
When you receive your WI Cinema Film and Documentary Collection Volume 1 this month, you will hear theme music on the DVD menu written and produced by award-winning recording artist Laura Powers. We chose Powers to be the musical presence on our premier DVD, because we wanted to celebrate a distinct and strong female creative force whose music deserves to be showcased.
Through her craftsmanship as a songwriter, Powers has made a name for herself within the music and film industries. Much of her music is inspired by Celtic mythology and has an alternative twist similar to musicians like Sarah McLachlan and Enya. Along with her solo career, Powers has composed music for television advertising campaigns and short and feature-length films. Her songs have been covered by numerous recording artists, and have received awards in the television, music and advertising industries.
If your film needs music…
Powers understands the importance of the independent cinematic voice, and is interested in exploring partnerships with independent filmmakers as well. “It’s a win-win situation when I can get film placement for my music and help an independent filmmaker with music that speak to their film. I’m hoping to build relationships and get exposure for my music,” says Powers.
